Parco della Pellerina, Turin – Friday, July 18, 2025
The ITF W35 tournament in Turin is heating up: singles quarterfinals and the women’s doubles final are on the menu. Under a ruthless sun, the day promises high emotions on a clay court masterfully maintained by the club’s diligent staff. Meanwhile, the umpire’s chair continues absorbing degrees like it’s aiming for the ITF rankings too.
Court P – MABO (the sizzling chair)
From 10:30:
- Noemí Basiletti (ITA) vs. Sara Cakarevic (FRA)
A clash of styles: power versus patience. If the sun stays out of it, we may get a three-set thriller with plenty of heavy breathing.
Followed by:
- Lisa Zaar (SWE) vs. Ane Mintegi Del Olmo (ESP)
Sweden versus Spain, Nordic elegance versus Iberian grit. Zaar has already charmed the locals, but Mintegi’s backhand cuts through the air like a blade.
After the break (and coffee):
Doubles Final!
- Gramatikopoulou (GRE) / Zaar (SWE) vs. Basiletti / Urgei (ITA)
Italy lands in the final with double home spirit. Heads up: Basiletti could play two matches in one day. Hopefully, there’s pesto on standby for her break.
Court T – Valmora (gourmet clay)
From 10:30:
- Enola Chiesa (ITA) vs. Valentini Gramatikopoulou (GRE)
Enola, the local gladiator, faces off against the tireless Greek. Expect intensity and well-measured roars.
Followed by:
- Jennifer Ruggeri (ITA) vs. Isabel María Serban (ITA)
An all-Italian battle: also known as the “dust derby.” Packed with flair, skill, and charmingly disputed points.
Friday brings tennis, heat, and possibly a touch of drama. And while results go up (when they do), SportJournal.pictures is already set to tell the story.
To be continued…
