🇬🇧 Welcome to Nord Tennis: A Day of Hidden Courts, Miniskirts, and Dreams

Report from our special correspondent at the start of Nord Tennis 2025, where tennis meets the cheerful chaos of a summer camp.

The first impression was… curious. A light, almost improvised atmosphere, with players not yet listed on Wikipedia and volunteers who looked like they had accidentally walked in from the street. Between tents, handwritten match sheets, and a spontaneity bordering on surrealism, the tournament began to unfold its charm.

The organization was still finding its rhythm. Some officials were busy — or elegantly delegated to cheerful, efficient assistants — while others made brief appearances in the corridors. For the battle-hardened reporters, it felt like a treasure hunt: the matches happened almost in secret, like gems hidden in an unknown garden.

But when tennis showed up, it was worth it. Strong rallies, genuine effort, and that unmistakable sense that here — in these blurry, good-natured days — the future is also taking shape.

It’s not Wimbledon or an ATP 500, but Nord Tennis has its own thing. It’s got humanity, affectionate disarray, and a “work in progress” vibe that — if well steered — might just be its biggest strength.
